Our next Re:vive event is Monday, 30th April at 7:30pm. We are delighted to welcome back the Rev’d Stuart Bell, Rector of Aberystwyth, to speak on ‘What is the future of the Church?’. This event promises to be of great interest as we hear from a vicar who has served a parish in a small town for many years. His experience and spiritual insight into the scriptures will be valuable to us all as we look to be involved in future church ministry.

Sunday March 25 saw the visit to the college of Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Dr Barry Morgan, Archbishop of Wales. Archbishop Rowan preached at the end of term Eucharist on John 12:24: ‘unless a grain of wheat fall into the ground’, while Archbishop Barry celebrated. The choir sang the setting of the great Welsh hymn ‘Tydi a roddaist ‘by Arwel Hughes. On a warm spring day, with the sun shining, the Archbishops took part in the college photo, chatted with students on the lawn, and stayed for lunch.

There was a full house to hear Professor MacCulloch give a lecture in college on the evening of February 8. Eighty people, including students, local clergy and other guests heard a very stimulating discussion on the topic : ‘ what if medieval Christendom had been a decentralized Europe, with pluralism in theology and no centralized control from Rome?’ This was a provocative, witty lecture full of scholarship and insight from one of Britain’s leading church historians. The evening was rounded off by a reception for Professor Macculloch.
