Family Life at St Michael’sFebruary 1, 2011
As a family we moved to Cardiff from North Wales in August 2010 so I could commence the training for ordained ministry. The decision to uproot the whole family was a difficult one and not taken lightly as we have four small children between the ages of three and eight.
It is important that my husband, Carl, and the children are part of the college life. It hasn’t taken long for this to happen. We have all felt welcomed into the community and look forward to our ‘College Time’. The Christmas Party proved to be a grand occasion with everyone taking the opportunity to relax and have fun. During the Christmas break, the children frequently enquired if it was time to go back, as they enjoy meeting all the students and sharing the evening meals twice a week in the dining room.
Carl is enjoying taking a part in the worship at college with the All Age service held on Thursday evenings in the college chapel. We really enjoy church life outside college with opportunities to meet others and get involved with all sorts of things including holiday clubs and fellowship groups. There are a wide variety of churches in Cardiff offering a choice of worship styles.
The whole family have settled very well into Cardiff life as there is so much to do. Llandaff village is a lovely place to live. College is situated at the end of the high street which has a lovely feel to it with numerous cafés and restaurants. The children enjoy the large parks close by where they can cycle to their hearts content. There are plenty of playgrounds to have fun on and use up all their energy. The children have settled in to and found friends in their new school and seem to have discovered some of the indoor play centres while at various birthday parties.
