Visit of clergy and youth workers from the Church of Sweden

The Church in Wales is linked to the Church of Sweden through the Porvoo agreement and in particular the dioceses of Uppsala and Llandaff are twinned together. A series of visits have taken place in the last five years between the two dioceses, including St Michael’s students having been on placement in Sweden. This year it was the turn of the college to host the exchange and a party of 26 clergy and youth workers came to the college for a week on 12th April. The group shared their experience of confirmation, and visited several parishes in Llandaff. Seminars were held on the Swedish and Welsh approach to confirmation, and new possibilities of relating confirmation preparation to youth spirituality. The week ended with an all age Eucharist in the College chapel, followed by a barbeque in glorious sunshine. It is hoped that students and staff from the college can now visit Sweden to look at how youth work and confirmation preparation is done there.
